ROSCon 2025 in Singapore is a wrap, and I am super happy to not have to do any work for a few days because it was a lot of preparation.

I've written up a blog post with my experiences to share with all of you:

I have a hard time dealing with people who make you feel bad/stupid for not knowing something they do -- whether intentional or due to poor social skills.

As someone in tech, I should have already become desensitized to this, but I guess you can't just change how you feel.

Doing a whole bunch of OSS pushes pre-ROSCon. I'm psyched up for now, but definitely looking forward to the break after the conference.

I'm hiring for my team at the RAI Institute!

If you're based in the US and are interested in working on robots solving complex, contact-rich, long-horizon tasks, do consider applying.

Absolute dumpster fire of a day. I've tried to do too many things, none of them exciting, I didn't do a good job at any one of them, and I'm too tired to form a coherent sentence.

Sometimes you just need to take the L and try again another day.

Pinocchio 3.8.0 was just released!

I'm excited about this release because my feature (Viser visualizer) is included, plus there are a lot of fixes (especially to mimic joints) that came from issues I ran into myself. Open source is great.

Such a weird positive feedback loop of people needing to signal themselves as pro-general purpose humanoid hype as possible, so their peers perceive their work as still relevant.

Let's remember we're here to solve problems and/or uncover new understanding.

Does anyone know any experts in VR with an interest in immersive video streaming for teleop applications? If so, shoot me a note. Thanks!

If I ever start using my free time to make thinkpieces instead of educating people, you may take me out back and put us all out of our misery.

I'm back!

Sorry, I had gone on a nuclear social media cleanse but then realized it's actually good to stay connected to people. Just need to do a better job curating.
