God. Yeah. And on top of that, unlike Discord, they were *searchable*! You remember a cool story or idea from 10+ years ago and it's still there. Discord... Not so much. A bit of a worry to me, honestly.

I mean, I'd say it goes back a bit further than that. hard light and holographic projections have been a thing since the early 80s at the latest. I just think it wasn't feasible to do in live action cheaply until then.
