That's not optimism, it's just reality. It's the most likely thing that will happen on that list.

The UnixPC could have been the beginning of a great line of business computers if AT&T had been a real computer company.

I don't think the graphics software was called "layers" though. That was the tty multiplexing driver. It was also used for the DMD5620 and windowing terminals that came after.

I'm interested, but I don't see a link to where it can be found.

It should be easy enough to implement in most programming modes in emacs, but as you have noted it is not yet done.

I have never had any desire this.

If I want to find the a number of identifiers in a complex code base I use tools that do that as their primary function, such as CScope for C code.

So you wasted all that time compiling some massively bloated C++ only to have some probably also bloated Rust blow it all up? 🙃

Personally I think Cyrus has always been best, though I sometimes struggle with parts of the code being sub-par. It has continued to improve though and some of the biggest providers use it, and also help maintain and improve it.

That's such a nasty hack with SO MANY security implications that I'm not sure it ever should be allowed to work on OpenBSD!

Even a hoodie and a light sweater were not enough Thursday night with that wind! Especially not for those of us who had just endured 35C during the week before.

Indeed it is a good thing. Needing to rename fields is a good sign things were not done right in the first place, so having to revise all the callers is your opportunity to really look deeper and maybe fix things better for your next attempt.
