That sounds like a perfect solution. I might reclaim my Windows drive and use it for more space for a VM with USB pass-through for the scanner. With the bloat of Windows 11, it still might end up faster, even if I don't need speed for a fucking scanner XD

Definitely. I went with PikaOS since they make good custom package installs based on Debian, which updates slowly, but with very high stability. I feel like getting off Windows is worth any experimental inconvenience at this point. Kubuntu seems like a great and popular way to go right now.
