Well, in the case of I'm Not There, I think he's talking about Edy and his grief he can't help her. In the case of Rolling Stone, he's speaking of a woman and likely some aspect of himself as well. But they're all about shaking off the phony for the sake of the heart.

It's odd to me that people keep repeating the meme that Dylan is a complete unknown or a "story" or such. It and he's right there in his songs. You just have to listen.

I'm going to stick with my original thought on this. ACU will be good to the extent it has an insight into Dylan's art or Dylan as an artist. Otherwise, probably not. Doesn't matter how good the performances are. Even the title is troubling.
