So I caved on the Black Friday sales and grabbed a PS Portal.

I wasn’t sure if the remote play experience would be better than via any of the apps, but I was *quite* wrong.

At least for my setup at home, it feels like the games are running natively. very pleased.

The sky yesterday genuinely looked quite evil.

Like those pictures of the first milliseconds of a nuclear explosion.

Neat.

Oh so the hover thing on Apple Pencil pro is quite nice in procreate. It lets you swap between the freeform and polygonal selections without stopping.

and it also does this nice haptic thing when doing selections as well. Like you’re dragging over a slightly bumpy bit of paper.

Initial impressions: absurdly thin. Oled is very nice.

The squeeze function on the pencil might save me like 15% of my workflow time because I can use it to switch between brush and eraser without having to stop and tap.

Very much looking forward to Blender materialising in the future.
Well this was unexpected.

My mum’s iPad (which was my old 2017 Pro) died on Tuesday, and she offered to buy my M1 Pro and essentially go halves in the new M5.

So…I have a new iPad now?

I bought something silly from aliexpress because it was very steeply on sale, and the tracking just updated and oh god it’s so much heavier than I thought it would be.

Still very sad that Australia misses out on this.

Nationally, our internet is more than capable for game streaming, and the fact we keep getting put in the corner on this is silly.
Cloud Streaming officially arrives on PlayStation Portal today.

PS Plus Premium members can now stream select digital PS5 games in their library, in addition to hundreds of compatible games from the Game Catalog and Classics Catalog: play.st/4hShAmg

case in point for the aphantasia + chess thing.

I won this game in a minute. Didn’t lose a piece. Only moved 3 pieces. All I can remember is how I opened. Everything else is blank.

There’s not a lot of planning in my chess, it’s all very much flying by the seat of my pants.

I have admittedly gotten quite into chess via Duolingo.

Been doing it for about a month and I’ve just cracked 800 ELO.

After trying and failing to get into it several times in my life, I am starting to actually see the matrix a little, sort of…

(aphantasia + chess is a weird equation)

Tis the season.
I occasionally check my Facebook. Just to see what’s happening with the 10’s of people I actually know.

I went in there today and was immediately targeted by the algorithm.

This cannot stand.

Replacement came. Fairly sure it’s not ‘official’ but…even so. It’s maybe 120g heavier and is a slightly darker colour, but overall feels better in quality and sturdier than the proper apple one.

For over $100 less, I can’t really complain.
Existing “Smart Cover” (ie. 4 bits of cardboard, some vinyl and some magnets) for my iPad was starting to fall apart.

Apple now want AU$159 for one…

So I checked aliexpress and found a seller that had oem old stock for discontinued models and got one for $50. Which is still too much, but still.
