I couldn't tell you a lichen from a fungus, but I think both can solve mazes and 'learn' them in a cultural sense, passing knowledge on to child cells. Earth's biosphere is smarter about what matters than any AI, and this pic looks like it might be the lichen version of a festive quidich tournament.

Do I have this right (ish)? The AI identified race/gender/age-based markers in the slides it was analyzing -- groupings in the overall data set. Then used a smaller data set of known cancer diagnoses w/in the matched bias group (less data and also lower-quality due to existing health system bias). ?

Maybe whoever wrote the search tools for the database designed the search to be buggy (as reported by NYT or NPR) in unpredictable ways so some stuff would get out unscreened, and then everything could be fixed while we scream pedo-rape and get a proper release.
