The addition of the Big Four Bridge has been the most transformational project since I moved here in 1993.

Waterfront Park is a very underrated space, partially because it’s just now becoming mature. 25 years into its existence and it’s really special.

99% sure this lemonade stand is a repurposed bus stop shelter.

I love the geometry of this intersection in my Louisville neighborhood, where *four modes of transportation infrastructure come together.

Every now and then I am reminded that my first contribution to the urban fabric of Louisville was this putt-putt course at Lydia House which cost $57.00

Jim James (depressingly) nailed it.

These fake footers are an interesting choice for a marker but might’ve been fine just being a post.

Flashback - 1980; TARC idea calls for first transit center on urban edge.

The concept included dedicated lanes for fare-free electric coaches operating every ten minutes and free bus service from Jackson to 9th St and the River to Broadway.

Organize campaigns in suburban communities to convince them that 1) urban America is not in such dire and violent straits, and 2) without urban areas their communities would fail.

Urban America is vulnerable without their support.

A note of caution from MBTA’s analysis of their fare-free bus pilot program: it’s easy to start but more difficult to end.

Feel like this is a unicorn in the TARC system. Two #19s passing at what is probably one of the more difficult turns to make in the network - an eastbound #19 from Clifton Ave to Frankfort Ave.

The PTSA in St. Petersburg, Fl developed this beautiful, circular transit center in 2003. I particularly love the use of glass brick in the support columns which glow during the night.

Shamelessly sharing this masterpiece that I did not take.

It’s perfect.

Drone shot of the flood wall holding so far in Frankfort, KY by my friend Daniel Evans. This is the highest the Kentucky River has ever been.

Traffic accidents are so common in Louisville that @jeffspeck.bsky.social was able to reference one that happened just three hours before his presentation kicking off the Downtown Walkability Project last night.

You’re working so hard to avoid being here but indeed, you are here.

This is literally from the NYT/Siena poll following the debate. Journalists were tracking how voters felt about candidates’ age and more were concerned about Biden than Trump by a very very wide margin. Astead was and is right to point out Dems ignored that.

You can tell someone is stupid when they identify beating China in the space race as being an important priority.
