I suspect the whole thing is a PG Wodehouse satire set down in Suffolk - a story on the BBC on their local library service, as well as Cllr Faircloth-Mutton includes a radio presenter called Lesley Dolphin, a library chief exec called Bruce Leeke and a union organiser called Winston Dorsett.

Dropped in to @britishlibrary.bsky.social ‘Unearthed’ by chance yesterday - Gertrude Jeykll’s boots; botanic sample case actually used by Darwin; one of only two remaining wooden Wardian cases; the original design of lawnmower (in front of pop art anti-mow poster) - what more could you want!

And here are her boots … in the Unearthed exhibition in British Library I visited by chance today

Apparently Duffel in Belgium has a statue to the coat. But in cruel twist of fate, most modern duffel coats are made from Melton cloth. And that sadly isn’t of course the most famous thing from Melton Mowbray.

@hilaryosborne.bsky.social umm … let’s say you save 100ml of water from avoiding each half empty glass, and imagine you saved 5 every day. You’d need to do this every single day for 7 years to save 1000 litres. And in the process your daily diligence would lower your bill by 30p a year.

We successfully captured a swarm from one of our hives in the Walled Garden yesterday. Thanks to Doncaster BKA for our training this year!
