No doubt we all have our own personal associations with the highway. In the early 80s, my family drove it from Ottawa to Victoria when my father was posted to Esquimalt. In the 90s, I hitchhiked from Saskatoon to Cape Breton and back. Great stretches of it are etched in my memory. Life is a Highway.

The U of S is hosting a national conference on this issue next month, and it includes Memorial's Vice-President (Indigenous) as a panelist, and the President of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami as a guest speaker.
