On instinct Robin dove to tackle Gisborne. Anything to keep him from Marian and Tristan.
He was weak but his weight was enough to knock them both over, tumbling down the stairs.

Robin's eyes flashed, the only sign he'd caught what Gisborne implied. "Nonsense. I spent the night in my beloved betrothed arms." He glanced at Marian when she shifted beside him and he nearly stumbled. He saw the dagger. That was his girl. "Celebrating and making wedding plans."

the lass has worn me out. You are interrupting our passionate reunion. Me, Marian and our son."

From his eyes and searched his mind for an idea to stop this. "You are only embarrassing yourself." He stifled a groan as he walked toward Marian, clinging to anything he could as he went. He wrapped an arm around her, partly protectively, partly to stay upright. "Pardon my appearance, lad, seems~

Rage propelled Robin to his feet. He grasped the bed posts, then lurched toward the door. He'd not let that man touch his son. "Leave, Gisborne, immediately! You have no business here." He wobbled but clutched the doorway. He saw the larger man looming over Marian and Tristan.
He wiped the sweat ~

Robin heard the boom of the door slamming against the wall. That could not be a good thing. His empty stomach roiled as he pushed himself up to sit on the edge of the bed. Was that Gisborne's voice he heard? It surely wasn't Edward yelling. "Marian?" He called loudly as he could manage.

He made a gurgle of distress as he forced himself to sit up again. There she was, looking so lovely though he didn't like the fear in her eyes looking at him. "Blue tis such a fine color on you."
"Though it turns my stomach but I must eat to get my strength back somehow."

He lifted his head, then regretted it. "The danger may have passed. But I fear the effects are still strong.". He held his head, trying to look at her. "I cannot move without coming untethered from the ground... Still feel pain," he confessed. "A kitten could take me out right now.". He hated this.

King himself. That attracts its share of enemies... But not many know I have returned." He'd deliberately been laying low since he had returned, until Nottingham anyway.
His head wam, but he couldn't resist asking, "Need any help back there?"

By the time he'd managed to get the tunic over his head and laced, he was drenched in sweat and trembling. He fell back into the bed.
"I rose fast in the King's service," he was still thinking through suspects. "Leader of the archers to Kings Guard to leading the Guard... Awards from the ~

"If your father wanted me dead, 'twould have been when we were teens and he'd catch me in your room. He came close once or twice back then... You have more than enough reasons, but poison isn't your style. You'd look me in the eye to do it. Like a warrior..." He mused and accepted his shirt.

wouldn't have been surprised if killing him had crossed the minds of those who knew him best at some point. He didn't always make things easy on his loved ones.

But Guy may have brought in his own people. Some may still be loyal to him, though I cannot imagine why...
Right now the only ones I don't suspect are you and your father or Much. Though you all may have more reason than most to be fair." The last was meant more as a joke, but honestly he ~

He struggled into a sitting position, relieved it made breathing easier. "Gisborne's always a good guess when there's trouble. He had access to Locksley. I haven't had time to greet all the staff. Most I know well. Some even raised me more than my parents did. ~

He tugged her arm playfully though frightened to find she hardly moved.
"Now when have you ever seen me drunk?" When he got drunk, it was usually alone, late at night and certainly not for a lady to see.
"Mushroom powder?" He puzzled. "Not a common item at market. Who could have?"
October 4, 2025 at 10:36 PM
"Doctor?" He didn't remember a doctor. Vaguely he remembered leaving the party finally, and climbing to her window but not much else.
"Am I so far gone as all that?" He asked. "Can I be so done in when all I want is to pull you back in this bed beside me?"
October 4, 2025 at 10:27 PM
He tried to think though his mind was still muddled and Marian was so close in that filmy nightgown he liked so much. "Most were villagers I knew. Some of the neighbors might have been new to me." He shook his head and winced at the lance of pain. "I don't know... Twas poison?"
October 4, 2025 at 10:18 PM
"Imagine if your father walked in right now, " he teased back.
He scowled as she spoke of the night. "Don't remember a lot." He ran a hand over the back of his neck and regretted it as everything spun. "Met Much at the tavern, then Locksley. Much had a feast ready there as a surprise...."

how could I be anything but wonderful with you wrapped around me the way you are?" He ran his hand along her arm and tried for a playful wink.

He stretched tentatively. Every joint and muscle ached terribly and the world swam around him for a moment. But he could draw a breath and the dark haze was gone from the edge of his vision. "Unsure how I got so lucky to be here, but ~

He stirred, drawing his first deep breath in what felt like forever. Her scent filled his lungs and he smiled as he forced his eyes open. Marian lay with her cheek against his chest.
He stroked her hair back with a trembling hand. "Could there be a more beautiful sight to wake to in all the world?

"don' act like thish is goodbye.". He struggled to get words out between gasping breaths. "Sssaracen army didn' end me. Too stupid or ssstub'n to die, Richard said..."

He felt her settle against him, heard the fear in her voice. That she was that worried about him wasn't a good sign, his muddled mind told him.
He rested an arm on her shoulder. He choked on a laugh. "Fin'ly gotchu in my arms, can't do an'thin 'bout it."
October 4, 2025 at 9:02 PM
"Good," he said. "I co'dn' bear an'ther dream." His voice cracked. If he opened his eyes to find himself back in that makeshift hospital in the bloodthirsty desert once again, it might just kill him before the poison could.

He couldn't even fight against her pushing him back to the mattress. His bleary eyes searched hers. He reached out to touch her. His grip on her arm as weak as a kitten's. "You're real?"
