"We must remember that terrorism does not describe an objective reality; it is, like other pieces of language weaponized to murder, an ideological word used by ideological powers, with specific legislative and carceral bodies attached to its use."

"White supremacy makes white workers slave drivers & overseers & police, even as they're commanded by the upper echelons… it's not just that they've been confused or made a mistake. White supremacist culture infects entire populations and doesn't [brake] when it comes to the romantic working class.”

"In the colony, one's solidarity with the workers needs always to be questioned… Where worker solidarity is cover for anti-Black violence, it needs to be questioned & critiqued…

It's not that we should not be in solidarity with the workers—it's that in colonies, workers are never innocent."

"…the white left’s readiness to embrace the white working class comes… from a romanticization of the working class through Marxist literature. And that is important, one should be in solidarity with the workers, but as [Frantz] Fanon says, Marxism needs to be expanded… when it comes to the colony…"

Robin Herold – .me.to.me. (to you)

A set of largely acoustic, gentle singer-songwriter pieces with just enough edge to the compositions to elevate it above the fray.

an organizer recounted the story of Monica Goods' death at the hands of a state trooper & informed us about upcoming jury selection for that state trooper's trial. friends old & new [re]connected. when we felt tired, my partner & i walked home & processed our day together 💖

a small fraction of the rally crowd returned to the park & joined us. we distributed food & clothing. kids played in an (unpermitted) inflatable bouncy house. one guy promoted an initiative to provide local homeless folks with tiny houses on public land. another recruited for a jail support org.

the rally crowd marched away while a presumably well-compensated band loyally covered various popular protest songs. i helped the memorial organizers set up equipment, materials, & decorations. when the band finished, our amateur dj played toothier protest songs. several community members gathered.

someone held a sign reading: "Zionist for a ceasefire." an organizer chanted at me: "fight fascism; stay in the crosswalk." cheers rose when a state senator praised "the founding fathers." as an afterthought, she mentioned Monica Goods' memorial, but not a word about police violence or racism.

despite my (& the bus system's) best efforts, i arrived at the park before the No Kings rally ended. on stage, an amplified voice expressed disdain for 1 particular asshole & adoration for the US settler-colony. the pledge of allegiance was recited in earnest. many attendees wore branded NK attire.

while busking i prioritized my songs that reference police violence, transness, the genocide in palestine, & revolution. folks gathered & offered donations. i strummed Happy Birthday while a gorgeous crowd celebrating a quinceañera posed for photos. kids danced & laughed & urged me "keep singing."
