Smack dab in the middle of the sandwich generation | Aspiring to raise the best humans possible
When I read this to my kid, after sharing 🙄, they pointed out that they and their siblings have all taken panicked calls from all four of their Boomer grandparents about something on their phone or computer or something else that they didn’t know how to fix

I took as a compliment a comment from one of my kids last week because I used navigation for a destination in Minneapolis because I so rarely need it in the Cities. She was surprised that there was a place I didn’t instinctively know how to get just from the address.

We have both my mom’s and my wife’s china sets. I don’t know what to do with them beyond use them once a year. No idea what happens when my MIL decides to downsize her set of china. Certainly don’t need/want three sets

This is one of my big challenges. I’ve inherited a lot of photos from my mom (and from my grandma via my mom) and so few of them are captioned and there’s no one really left to ask

I’m mildly embarrassed to ask, but what happened in 1453?

1492 and 1517, I get (raised as a Lutheran, I know 1517 well)

So true. As my kids have gotten older, they’ve wanted to try real sparking wines and they always end up back at Martinelli’s. We end up buying the four-packs at Costco and that barely makes it through Christmas and NYE

He’s so great! I’ve met him a couple times because his sister worked at our church for several years.

I pre-ordered his new cookbook for my wife for Christmas, I was at the store picking it up when she excitedly texted me that she learned he had a new book.

My oldest takes their last college final today and has one last essay to turn in to finish undergrad. One kid down, two to go

I saw you mention that! I love The Heights!

I feel like I’ve never had one of those strategies work more than a couple times. I have about a 50/50 success rate overall so it feels like a crapshoot every time I do a Bundt

I’m open to some sort of recurrent training as a condition of license renewal

I read this response to my kid and they said, “Oh, so like any time I asked you for help with a financial planning project in school.”

😳

it was before my time in Minnesota, but a lot of my older co-workers at WF were working there at the time and they shared stories of the aftermath. My manager lost most/all of her dress shoes because she rode the bus to work and would change shoes when she got to the office.

One day, the student responsible for dessert was supposed to make a chocolate mousse, but misread the recipe. It called for “1 lb. white sugar” but in their haste, read as 11 lbs sugar and no one caught the issue before it was too late and we had to scramble to figure out backup dessert. 2/2
