This is unreal. The 2026 code4lib conference has been cancelled unilaterally by Carnegie Mellon University because the Department of Education raised issues with the diversity scholarships:

For people who think they can hunker down, be apolitical, and ride this out, this is how it's going to go. They will hold the resources for any worthwhile public work hostage to try to make you complicit and make you serve them, even if you just want to make some improvements to packaging security.

Among the many disasters that are happening, the fact that the IMLS is on the chopping block has me SO worried. This agency funds programs that help local libraries serve their communities.
