Not to brag or anything, but we have the prettiest damn tree on our street right now.

Yesterday my dogs and I hiked 2.5 miles up a mountain to look for a geocache. We got within 1/4 mile of it, but there was still a big ravine between us and the cache. We're all old so we gave up and sat down to ate our lunch instead. I didn't find the geocache, but I did get to enjoy this view.

We had to have our dog Gus put down a few days ago. He was 14. Run free, buddy. Run free.

Gus will cross the Rainbow Bridge later today and my soul hurts.

One day during Covid I took a pix of a butterfly. I showed it to my wildlife biologist husband. Suddenly he's chasing butterflies with his camera. He's learned to identify each species and now does butterfly surveys at a state park. All because I took a photo.

A Weidemeyer's admiral. (his pix).

I brought my 87yo father to visit for a few days. We had lots of fun sharing adventures together. I only wish he'd be able to remember them.

I took my 87-year-old father to get groceries. At the end of an aisle he nearly ran his cart into a woman close to his age who he couldn’t see coming. Dad apologized, and the next thing I know they’re both laughing and pretending to push their carts into each other. It was adorable.

I'm making zucchini bread today, but that's not really the point of this post. Back in the 1980's when my 3 siblings and I were moving out of our parents' house, we would often call Mom for the recipes for dishes we grew up eating. After dozens of calls she typed (on a manual typewriter)...

You guys, we picked the first sweet corn from our garden today and had it for dinner. OMG it was so tender and sweet and I want to move somewhere I can grow corn year round.
