They’ve done up the prom and have a small sculpture trail but it’s not really touristy. The main shopping street has loads of good charity shops and a couple of bookshops - maybe one arcade.

We never put any food out or approach them (there have been two different ones). They seem to come over in a spirit of genuine curiosity, as far as we can tell.

I recently read Boneland, the decades later conclusion to his Weirdstone trilogy, very different style, almost like a dream state. He’s a fascinating writer.
