Imagine there's a lot of redundant agent handlers in the GRU and SVR now, why bother running agents when you can just read their comments on apps?

Four questions for the former leader of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Why didn’t you …
1) … ask why you were using Signal?
2) … ask why you weren’t using readily available govt secure comms systems?
3) … verify who was in the group?
4) … stop the chat when it got sensitive?

It’s exactly one month since @johnsipher.bsky.social and I wrote this Foreign Policy piece about how the US would now inevitably be seen as an unreliable intelligence sharing partner. The Signal debacle shows the article wasn’t pessimistic enough.

So much to unpack re: Signal scandal. The lack of care handling sensitive/classified info; the contempt for Europe & total disregard for avoiding civilian casualties.

It so oddly ironic reading this statement by the President of the U.S.A, as air raid sirens go off due to russia shooting their missiles & Iranian drones. And I just can’t help but laugh, cause there’s only ONE country mentioned in this post that DOESN’T look like a COMPLETE JOKE right now.
Ukraine.

Interesting to see certain accounts remember Ukraine exists. They were silent while Russia pummelled Ukraine; silent as Iranian drones whirled overhead; silent as North Korean missiles and troops entered the fray. Then they find their voice over Biden's decision to remove some restrictions.

Security Situation off 🇮🇪 Coast

The vessel (Yantar) may also have been used as a decoy to draw attention away from a 🇷🇺 attack submarine thought to be operating off the south coast and whose whereabouts are the focus of continuing Nato operations.

There are people applying for jobs that require background checks, concerned one tweet from 10 years ago or a bad credit rating due to a missed credit card payment, might cost them their job. Turns out all you needed to do was be selected to be DNI, Sec Def or AG.
I feel like background checks are probably there for a reason.

We are completely unprepared for this - to prevent it or to respond to it. Hoping for the best isn't policy.
Russian poking around submarine cables ... not a new issue of course. I've written about Soviet trawlers severing submarine cables that carried nuclear command and control data during the Cold War. See the article in the first comment.
