A lie is grounded in reality as it is tied to the truth (i.e., it is an un-'truth') - bullshit is not tied to any notion of truth nor is it grounded in reality.

He shows a clip in it where Hancock defines lying: knowingly stating an untruth (the actual definition), and follows it by saying (paraphrase) to his knowledge, he has not said an untruth. This is precisely why I want to remedy the notion of bullshit because he is not lying, he is bullshitting.
