The supermajority in the Senate during President Obama's first term began when Franken from Minnesota was sworn in on July 7, 2009 (delayed months for recounts and court cases). It ended on February 4, 2010 when Brown from Massachusetts was sworn in (filling seat after Ted Kennedy's death).

*playoff game* sure. But a full slate of regular season games Nov-Dec and again Feb-Mar?
And I get it, there is a benefit avoiding melting weather games in the south in June & July. But it's a trade off.
I think a big plus to the change will be avoiding the interruptions of summer int'l tourneys.

Feb games (and some in March) have been miserable in many cities the past few years.
Fans of teams in playoff contention might show, but could be very rough to draw crowds for a mediocre team after two months off.
To be sure, the trade off is the *potential* for league growth overall. We'll see.
