One more post about the Ferber Award. After writing a weird-ass book, it feels like a miracle when someone takes the trouble to create a fresh context for it. Thank you, judge Gabriela Garcia, for doing that. Here are her remarks.

My recent novel Gee, That Was Fun just won the Edna Ferber Fiction Book Award! Very exciting, especially for a book with 60 main characters! Available from the superb @trunkofcarcoop.bsky.social (trunkofmycar.org) and the usual outlets.

Since we're Hawaii based, the law allow elements of nature to be members of our coop. We welcome Earth (Seed), Water (Readers), Fire (Creators), and Air (Workers) as our first members!

Mort Kunstler, known as the godfather of pulp art, was a close friend of my dad’s growing up in Brooklyn in the 1930s and 1940s. Mort died last month, but not long before he sent me this lovely inscription.
