A NY health system is restructuring due to financial pressures created by federal cuts including moving from a level 2 to 3 #trauma center. I believe we will see more of this as #Medicaid payments are cut. Trauma leaders need to evaluate referral patterns, EMS protocols, etc in this new environment.

I would argue it’s not the location, it’s injury severity, resuscitation progress and underlying disease state that predicts in hospital mortality for intubated trauma patients.

This study says there is no advantage to whole body Ct scan vs selective CT scan in geriatric trauma pts. I feel like we need more robust literature in this area. In general, my bias is toward selective scanning but I would like more data. thoughts?
