I have been writing software, building the internet and installing solar, sometimes simultaneously. An EV driver since 2012.
60,670 Tesla 3/Y (out of the 150000 Teslas sold in Australia) have been subject to an Australian government vehicle safety recall. www.vehiclerecalls.gov.au/recalls/brow...
Almost 16000 of these vehicles have been subject to a recall more than once (there is a total of 76,567 3/Y VINs listed)

updated for end of October with actual EV sales (down) and more explicit assumptions (e.g. fully cycle home battery) and realistic assumptions for EV battery cycling for V2G, EV km driven etc.

Record #Tesla revenue in Q3 in USA (as $7500 tax credit expired) and almost record revenue in "Other" (rest of the world) outside China which didn't do too badly either. Q4 revenue likely to be way down in the USA. Very unlikely that China & Other can take up the slack. #TSLA

Tesla EV myth #42 - regulatory credits are the only reason #Tesla is profitable. From 2014-2019 they were indeed greater than profits because there weren't any and they definitely helped keep the lights on.

#EV profit is hard. Ford has lost over $25K on every EV it's sold in 2025! Ford is losing less money than in 2024 though, and sales volumes are trending up.

subtropical australia is so much more solar friendly. although there is seasonality it still gives enough generation all year around

The final missing piece to this puzzle of “too much” solar energy is bi-directional charging (aka #V2H & #V2G).

The wholesale electricity price in the middle of Australian sunny days has dropped to zero and even negative!

We do need more competition in cheaper and lower range EVs for use around town like this #Hyundai #Inster. I believe this is the cross model.

Pricing Breakdown (before on-road costs):
Standard Range: $39,000
Extended Range: $42,500
Inster Cross: $45,000

Home batteries are the talk of the town. This article says there are now 80 brands on the market.

The counting is over*. A much smaller election win for #independents than was hoped, but no one predicted the massive swing to labor. One thing is for sure. No seat is safe! @communityindeps.bsky.social @deniseshrivell.bsky.social @simonahac.bsky.social #climate200 #communityindependents #auspol

Tesla deliveries are down by region. The historical graphs look lumpy at best but could it be a structural declining trend? The $640B question is whether it's mainly due to the Model Y refresh or the Elon Musk involvement with the Trump admin & global politics #Tesla #DOGE

NB there is also a 10% GST/VAT payable (see breakdown of 3 recent quotes from 2 different companies). in 2025 STC has now dropped to AUD31c/Watt. Australia has almost no building permitting required and the electrical connection approval is quite easy using online portals etc.

Reached 100,000km today in the 5.5 years since we had the Tesla model 3. Powered when at home using either 100% Greenpower or rooftop solar.

A bit of a slack effort as other Australians have done more than 300,000km & some people in the US have done more than 300,000 miles

Also Siem Reap

Cambodia is still a developing country but making inroads in rolling out high speed EV charging infrastructure, even in the countryside.

In this case the tourist area of Siem Reap has this 120kW CCS2 charger down the street from our accommodation. #lovetheumbrella #EV #CCS2 #DCFC

Tesla sales are dramatically down in January 2025 compared to last January, but how were Tesla sales in 2024 compared to 2023 in Europe and Australia?

Down 10.7% and down 16.8% respectively!
