When Maddow refers to 2 nonwhite primetime hosts, I believe she’s limiting primetime to 8 to 11 (Wagner & Phang). Your confusion is understandable given that Maddow spoke in the context of Joy Reid’s losing her 7pm show (but, as you point out, being succeeded by 3 nonwhite hosts).

Unless CBS can attract new viewers to the slot, which would be quite an accomplishment, they’re fighting for share of a shrinking pool of viewers looking for a rundown of the day’s news. Which CBS no longer offers.
