Ah ok sorry not sure about the UK. In the US handling of all medical data is the same regardless of technology. Your doctor can’t even show it to another doctor (outside the practice or hospital) without your permission.

It’s all covered under HIPAA so it’s legally required to be as safe as any other records in the doctors office.
