The first music I put on today was Liza Minnelli, totally unaware that it was her 79th birthday. Though since I was one of her top 1,000 listeners on Apple Music in 2024, starting the day with Liza is normal. Happy birthday #lizaminnelli with a Z.

So long David. I was lucky enough to see you with the late stage Dolls at Warsaw & even enjoy one of your DJ gigs. My dad never listened to the NYDs but loved Buster Poindexter & had the debut album on a homemade tape. And of course, I watch you every year in Scrooged. A true New York original.

It was just last week I was listening to Marianne wondering how she was doing. What a singular voice & talent. Recommendation: Broken English album, re-recording of As Tears Go By, It’s All Over Now Baby Blue, her covers of Down in Dover and especially The Crane Wife 3.
