And true in most major biomedical areas. Another great example is the 4 decades between Judah Folkman’s efforts to discover vascular growth factors (many declined grants) and the first successful treatments for vascular macular degeneration. Seeing the future is hard, yeah?

Indeed. The crown jewel of our nation in my view. Our “edge” was that we were international in scope. Xenophobia has settled in DC like a winter inversion. It will wound us for a generation at least.
