Northern Gateway was marginal pre TMX expansion, now not at all. Private industry doesn't want to invest. Asian long term demand for bitumen doesn't make it profitable. Smith using it as a bargaining tool for US exports. Maybe Keystone.

All young adults crave; adventure, travel, new experiences, sense of belonging, growth etc etc. Tap into that and make the CAF a place to be. Pay is a good start but is only one simple thing in an overall environment. Good facilties, equipment, training are the main things.

If the cruise ships by pass Canadian ports of call, under the Jones Act, the ships will have to be US registered, crews all US citizens, and comply with US regulations. During covid they received a temp reprieve. Costs would double or scrap the Jones Act.

Elsewhere in the world someone can do these low skill manufacturing job for less. Those high paying jobs are gone forever from North America and western Europe. Ask your plumber neighbor how he is doing, or someone who touches a keyboard? The economy has changed. Trade or tech school.

I worked for a global bank, their mantra was to have a minimum 20 % of employees working remotely. Selfish reasons, save on real estate costs, plus you pay for the electricity, wifi, heat, desk, chair etc etc. They paid for a laptop and a secure connection.

The problem is that Ramaswammy and his irk are the first to defund public education and advocate for "choice" in private, charter etc forms of education.

NS is an untapped treasure of bike touring. Based out of Halifax there are multiple routes of backroads to explore; Annapolis Valley, Eastern Shore, Northumberland Strait etc etc with villages offering accommodation and food just kilometers apart. Something NS tourism should exploit more.
