The modern meaning of the word “doodle,” or to aimlessly draw, was first popularized in the 1935 Frank Capra classic film, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, starring Gary Cooper, who was described in the final legal trial scene as a “doodler.”

Haven’t seen enough of the EOY contenders yet, but this scene will stick with me for a long, long time.
