Any cool kid will tell you that the key to actually getting visited by aliens is for us to act totally aloof. Stop sending so many signals. Who cares if there are aliens out there anyway. Whatever man.

It was a typo but “clime” as a jazzier, more relaxed version of “climate” may be something to consider using more often?

On the other hand, we’re at the point where you no longer need use the word “climate.” Public transit, utility bills, energy efficient housing—these are all climate issues Mamdani has been laser focused on. In every case the solutions to the affordability crisis involve decarbonization technologies.
The blueprint for winning big on climate also came out last night. No more technocratic, policy wonk approaches. People showed they care about utility bills, free buses, affordable housing, etc. These are all climate issues. Talk about climate in terms people understand and experience.

I love seeing the industry call out the hypocrisy here and I wish this message could reach a larger audience, especially conservatives whose inclination would normally be to see how choosing favorites in the market is bad economic policy.

How about three hours of free electricity? Is that “kitchen table” enough for you?
Absolutely amazing: they've got so much solar in Australia that they need more people to use more of it, so the gov't has instructed energy retailers to offer *at least three hours of free power* during the middle of the day.

Meanwhile fossil-addled US struggles with an energy-price crisis ...
Energy retailers to be directed to offer free power three hours a day
Saying there is enough solar power for everyone in the daytime, Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen will direct retailers to provide three hours of free power every day to consumers.

These could be sourced from the rooftop solar systems that no longer needed them. Again, I have no idea if this would even be possible!

If we were ever to change to a DC based system (say by the end of the century) folks who want to keep their historic AC clocks could buy microinverters that sit between the outlet and the device. Some houses could even opt to place larger inverters in front of their main breaker.
