New movie poster pet peeve: it is not THE extraordinary true story, it’s AN extraordinary true story. Unless you are identifying that true story in your title (or subtitle). I don’t know this true story, it means nothing to my enjoyment (or not) of the film.

Double Indemnity was my 300th film of the year.

3) then there’s this one that is far more dramatic than this movie deserves, but it’s cabin, it’s skull, so it’s not overselling anymore than any slasher would… but Class Dismembered is a really bad pun. Dismember is too long a word to build your pun just on the prefix.

2) the main image on IMDb has a blue tint that feels vaguely (but poorly) connected to the winter setting, but the face and the skeletal hands have nothing to do with anything that happens in this movie.

A quick study in bad poster design:

1) the primary image for this movie on JustWatch and Letterboxd is this torture-porn looking thing that has nothing to do with anything that happens in this movie.

Seriously. With this hair and no makeup to make him look more human… he was cast to be the killer.

(No offense to pale British-looking people.)

The one with the older boyfriend wasn’t there when they found the body, doesn’t know what happened.

But, more interesting than that—Che died in 67, this movie was made in 69–was this poster advertising a magazine on her wall:

Seeing the alien, I think I may have seen this movie at some point, probably right when it came out on video I got my mom to rent it.

Apparently there were rumors that this movie had been shelved for five year before release in 81.

But the naked dancing sister was just reading this April 1980 issue of Movie Life.

An old science fiction story idea of mine involved Impound Cops who gathered up homeless people like cartoon dog catchers catch dogs, and they would later kill them, like stray dogs being put down. Feels like a potential reality here…

Final Wes Craven’s New Nightmare note for tonight, because I never noticed it before:

This end text is fantastic.

This poster is up in the police station. I thought it was some sort of album cover and thought it was a weird choice. Turns out it’s a poster about drinking and driving.

Their giant mouth mockup that they used for a POV shot from within feels slightly off in the placement, like the teeth are outside the sides of the mouth… I guess that’s supposed to be a farther back part of the throat, but then the teeth feel too big and too close to the back of the mouth:
