To me, docks & ports suggest a place ships, particularly cargo vessels, dock, likely industrial, depending on scale. The waterfront suggest a residential area or part of a town or city that faces the ocean. You’d say, “Waterfront apartments are some of the most sought-after properties in the city.”

You’d be very welcome here, @suearcher.bsky.social There are parts of Newfoundland that are essentially Irish villages. Even the accent has been preserved over centuries 😄 I’d love to visit.
