Yeah, I think you're right. I also think there's a trend for visibility and not 'gate keeping' how they do things. My favourite phenomenon to look out for is the 'millennial pause' which twists my mind to think about, closely followed by the Gen Z shake. It's an odd world

I've always liked the 17th century 'dog person' debate told thru art, with Shakespeare so fervently anti-dog and people like Alexandre-François Desportes (and it seems De Lorme) really into them. Like proto-Guardian opinion pieces! Even then it was all about the *clicks*

I meant the record :) But I'll also take a look out for that too!

Oh wow. Congrats. That book speaks so much eerie truth. Still need to get to Starmaker. Also love JJ and this soundtrack, but not seen the film yet. Might look out for this, imagining it's distributed in Europe.

Not to mention White Noise, End Zone, and The Names.

Just so happened to be watching LOTR two towers yday & it's astonishing how relevant it feels. I guess the book was written throughout WW2 and just after, but it definitely feels like we are rediscovering recognitions people had during/after major global wars that just drifted away during peace time

Yeah it was in that new Bowie boxset. Everything was sealed, opened it up and clearly someone didn't give a fuck at the factory
November 22, 2025 at 2:22 PM
Thankfully the good people of Bol (sort of Dutch equivalent of Amazon) who sent it, recognised it was a factory error and sent me a replacement the next day (no bowie pun intended)
Good customer service!

There's little movement anywhere on anything. Really scary stuff. Also presume you mean N Korea or did I miss something..

I think more than anything you have to keep politics out of cheese

Article 6 is the one I came across
November 21, 2025 at 9:26 PM
I did some digging, it appears (off a slightly tipsy read of UK gov committee papers) that after leaving EU, which had a preferential agreement for Canadian cheese, that in 2024 the UK lost access to this large reserved cheese and instead goes into a WTO allocated amount of cheddar w/other countries
November 21, 2025 at 9:26 PM
Good cheddar is perhaps the only thing I genuinely miss on the continent. You can buy it, but it's either weak stuff or out of hand expensive. This Tesco finest Canadian cheddar has instantly achieved quasi mythical status in my head now
November 21, 2025 at 9:14 PM
Don't say it was made in Canada, I'm hoping for some gourmet innovation in the cheddar game
November 21, 2025 at 9:01 PM
What made it Canadian?
