And better yet, if they are HIGH PAYING jobs, then the cost of what they work to produce, e.g., cars, will have to go up as other countries with lower standards of living can afford to pay their factory workers a lot less. Or American companies can eliminate most of those jobs with more automation.

The only things that can stop Trump are:
1/the courts,
2/the midterms giving Democrats back control of one or more branches of government, and
3/God.
Protests are important such as No Kings, but they will not stop Trump from destroying the federal government and corrupting our way of life.

Democrats did get the Republicans to give in to:
1/Rehire fired federal workers and pay them all backpay owed.
2/The deal funds the government through January 30, 2026.
3/ The House reopening will seat a rep., open Epstein files.
After January 30th, Democrats can shut down the government again.

What did you expect? Trump and the Republicans have all the power. The American people gave it to them. The only thing that can stop Trump are: the courts, the midterms and God.

Maybe a I'm wrong but I thought that nothing happens until January 30th when the Democrats can once again shut down the government if Republicans refuse to extend ACA subsidies.

Keeping it shut down did not stop Trump. Not that simple.

Time will tell what this compromise really means. A clue is that shutting the government down for the longest stretch in history did not stop Trump.

People who are quick to say the Democrats "caved" do not understand all the implications of this compromise. Over time the true meaning will come out. The knee jerk reaction is based on the idea that fighting will stop Trump. It hasn't and won't.

Not a setback at all. No Kings was great but it didn't stop Trump. This deal was a compromise that will help a lot of people in the short term. Then on January 30th the Democrats can shut down the government again if Republicans refuse to fund ACA subsidies.

Not fair. The Democrats are the only hope this country has to restore it to what it once was.

Democrats fighting among themselves only helps Republicans. Schumer was against this settlement.

Vote Republican then. They are in complete control now so that's a clue as to how things will work out. Maybe there will be soldiers locking down your neighborhood someday to make it part of a U.S. police state.

Well then you can vote for Republican cult members. See how that works out for you. They are in complete control now so that is a clue as to how it could be.

Cannot let? But Trump and the Republicans have all the political power. How were Democrats going to stop them?
The only thing that can change things will be when Americans have suffered enough pain, then they will vote out of office the vile Republicans and their mentally unbalanced pseudo king.

How would "winning" have happened? Would Republicans have suddenly caved to Democratic demands? Hard to believe.

It's not about the base. It's about the ever-growing number of independents. And that is why Democratic politicians need to move to the center on key issues. Compromise is the only way to find common ground and move the country forward, as neither side of the political spectrum can ultimately "win."

The plan remains the same, vote every last Republican out of office at every level of government. It's the only way to restore America.
