Did an amazing bikepacking trip there a few years back (Slovenia West Loop on bikepacking.com - theres a handy map with highlights). Pretty much all of the route was great but Kobarid, Dreznica and the countryside around there sticks in my memory

Not just biodiversity effects either ofc - welfare, feed-food competition, landscape value etc all being other critical considerations which tend to favour pasture systems (depending on how managed, obviously)

And v much agree around needing to avoid blanket anything. Land use debate is complicated for a reason! Including in the uplands

I'd push back a little on meat becoming a rare treat - think there's a strong case for meat and dairy to remain important tho smaller part of diet. Q as ever is how you make such a transition fair for farmers, consumers etc!

Hmm would be nice if true but highly doubt it - far from the first time he's refused to accept any possibility that livestock might actually deliver benefits. Really sad
