As soon as Venezuela “contributes” to Trump’s retirement accounts they too will be pardoned. All about the money.

They deserve each other; but we deserve neither.

Very interesting. Had trouble with the link even when I accepted all cookies. Elsevier manage their content tightly.

Hardly a game of pretend: Bezos performed the obligatory pilgrimage to Mar a Lago where he bent the knee and kissed Trump’s ring. We can’t expect good coverage of the Trump Maladmistration.

What a fall from the quality newspaper I read daily for decades. Now the Bezos Post and his paramour Sanchez editor of International News.

Not competent to comment on GB, but Western “medicine” had injurious and even fatal consequences for patients- arguably still does.

Skeptical. Define the “all encompassing wellness industry..”. Also , be careful of your math. Each order of magnitude is a power of 10. So if several is at least 4: 10^4 =10,000 X
January 11, 2025 at 9:04 PM
I’m skeptical of your claim. How do. You define the wellness industry? And “several orders of magnitude larger…” implies 1000 to 10000 X since each order of magnitude is a power of 10. So 3 orders of magnitude is 10^3 =1,000.

What a great idea!!

The FDA was blocked by the federal courts from regulating supplements. The FDA tried to get a congressional bill passed that allowed oversight and regulation. Hatch was the point man in opposition to the bill.
January 11, 2025 at 8:48 PM
I remember that argument being made. But the FDA process is much more transparent than the supplement industry. And it has mechanisms for public input.
January 11, 2025 at 8:35 PM
Possibly. Industries that fear regulation try to get powerful Senators from both the major parties. Or- as in the case of Susan Collin’s, the Senator for Bath Iron Works- one who is well placed may suffice. She has been “ a strong voice for maritime supremacy.”
January 11, 2025 at 8:32 PM
They tried. But Orrin Hatch (Utah Republican Senator) killed the bills repeatedly. And yes, he received big donations from the supplements industries.
