When we know the history and we make policies that 'neutralise' curricular anyway that is intentional policy-making to eradicate culture and history of Aotearoa.

Finding & sharing all the stories of the rohe is important. Colonial & settler histories have been most prominent in recent times but Māori have been in the rohe much longer & hidden in the archive there are some real taonga. Journals, maps, ledgers that tell the stories of Māori settlement.

Inspired by some journals that are in Te Whare Pātaka, The Treasury in Thames to make some photo art. A fascinating and unique archive - worth a visit. www.thetreasury.org.nz

Redemption - came at it fresh this morning and finished it. A 3 whiri kete. Often used as the basis for a wahakura (baby's sleeping basket). Lots of lessons learned! And the next prepared and ready to finish tomorrow.

I marvel at the ingenuity of those who designed in the first place to envisage how these three squares could interlock to form something new. Started to realise something was not quite right as I joined the 2nd one but was told to keep going. It wasn't all right😧 there was a gap, a whenu missing. 2/

Raranga - the joy and the frustration. It all started so well. Several hours to prep and size the whenu before class, all ready to go. Made my first square, then two more. Ready for the magic of joining them together!
