The other week I found out that several of my stories for @palabranahj.bsky.social & @nextcity.org placed in the SPJ San Diego Journalists Awards. My article 'The Heavy Toll' won 1st place in the category of non-daily reporting & writing for a Criminal Justice Story on La Raza Database Project.

Residents of El Cajon & others from all across San Diego braved the afternoon sun & blazing temperatures approaching the 90s in support of the region’s immigrant community. Organizers denounced the city’s decision to cooperate with ICE, which they say criminalize & villainize immigrant communities.
