Last night my wife, two friends and I went out to see Del Toro's Frankenstein at a really tiny 40-seat indie cinema. Afterwards we rolled into a country pub to nurse a few pints, sit by the fire and chat about movies. I hadn't realised how much I've missed that kind of cinema experience

Yeh, autumn is pretty decent

Hell of a week. We pulled it back at the last minute though, so celebrated with pizzas and cider.

Pepperoni, grana padano and homegrown cherry tomatoes

Figs, stracciatella and laoganma chilli crisp

It lives again!
Some observations:

● The audio quality is really quite decent

● The double shot colour effect still slaps

● The screen is diabolical

● The software is dead, so no idea if I can switch up the music

● Years of streaming means I don't actually have any files to put on it anyway

久しぶりのお好み焼きナイト

Last night I made Okonomiyaki for the first time in a while and we were really happy with how they turned out.
The weather wasn't quite as warm as it has been lately, but we cooked outside anyway

Surely?!

Another test dough with a rye starter with a mixture of 00 and buckwheat flour. A little difficult to work with but the flavour was fantastic. Crusts were creamy, earthy and rustic AF. Needs some tweaking, but I'll try again

Vodka sauce, pepperoni & olives

Garlic oil, shiitake & caramelised onion

Successful pizza dough experiment this evening. I used a rye-flour sourdough starter mixed with 00 flour which gave the crust a lot of air and a nice earthiness.

Toppings were lemon courgette ribbons with goat cheese and thyme flowers, and grilled peaches with gorgonzola and balsamic glaze

I found a few more, so here's a couple of bonus shots of Mt. Fuji from the Shinkansen. I imagine these were taken in February 1986, somewhere around Shin-fuji

I recently discovered a cache of them along with my old MD player. Sadly the player had a proprietary batter that has exploded, so I might never relive what is on these discs (tbh, likelihood is high that it's something like Less Than Jake)

Apropos of nothing, the Switch 2 kickstand locks nicely into the hinge of a MacBook, just below the webcam.

Uh ... what's that? Sorry, yes I was paying attention. Um, no. No blockers from me

Starting my day with a nice flat white of this Yunnan coffee from Oddkin...and it genuinely does taste just like strawberry jelly! Wild

Spent a large part of this weekend cooking various meals outside with fire. The highlight was making smoked potatoes which, naturally, I was immediately compelled to put on a pizza

This evening I made Jambalaya and ate outside. Word is the bad brain chemicals are gone, replaced with chicken, sausage and a chocolate roux

Eva made medus kūka for our wedding cake and, honestly, I'm still utterly in awe of it

We've been together for a long while now, but yesterday I quietly married my best friend @evadage.co.uk. We kept things super intimate, spending the day deep in the countryside with just close family and my oldest friend as witnesses. The weather was perfect and we wouldn't have changed a thing ♥️

Just finished watching Common Side Effects and it's probably my favourite show this year. Despite how much buzz I heard about the studio's previous show, Scavengers Reign, this seems to be really under-discussed so please consider this your prompt to give it a go. It is so, so good

Old box art was great! The art for the original NES Mega Man was notorious online, but for years I had no idea why everyone hated it so much. Turns out that, here in the UK, the PAL region art was pretty decent but the NTSC art was...well, notorious
