I wish people were getting more accustomed to the medical terminology. There's a clinical term for that "fixation," it's called "perseveration," well known symptom of dementia.

All true, and I wish people were accustomed to other terms, like perseveration (repeating oneself constantly), confabulation (mixing up fact and fantasy), aphasia (loss of vocabulary) and delusions of grandeur (speaks for itself) when looking at obvious symptoms of cognitive impairment.

Yes, and as a CU alum, proud he spent time in Boulder

It's a bit forgotten, and it's not his finest role, he's a bit miscast, but if you like war movies, he was terrific in "A Bridge Too Far," playing an officer leading the attack on the Nijmegen Bridge in Holland during Operation Market Garden. Heckuva scene. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwjH...

Yeah, having lived through the Oklahoma City bombing, which is as bad as it gets, this is plain nuts.

Interesting observation. Napoleon was from Corsica and looked down upon for his rustic background. Ditto with Hitler and his heavy accent from Austria. And don't forget Stalin being from Georgia. Something about being an outsider.

Agreed. Also seems like Trump and Co. are auditioning National Guard commanders and units to find out which ones will fire on protesters when he declares he won his third term with 90 percent. Kind of like "The Apprentice" with live ammo.

It's so maddening to me, beyond the horror inflected on these young women, is that there was no effort by Merrick Garland and others to make this an issue four years ago. Why are we hearing about this in 2025 when it could have been released -- when it really mattered?

Isn't firing a warning shot the standard procedure here? Then board and seize contraband, that's what the Coast Guard is supposed to do. During Prohibition the Coast Guard never blew up ships bringing in rum, or other contraband, approaching the US coast.

During Prohibition the Coast Guard had pretty strong orders about search/seizure. There was a big scandal when a Coast Guard cutter fired a machine gun on the Black Duck, a notorious rum runner off Rhode Island in 1929, it was deemed as dishonorable, killed a few sailors on the Black Duck.
