Spent the morning on the plot in my shirtsleeves! Tidied the brassica cage, dumped the bolting caulis & planted out the remaining PSB seedlings.
Weeded the long flower bed, planted a mass of bulbs that I lifted from home then covered it in grass cuttings as I used up a battery of strimmer juice.

First time working in the garden for a while. I’ve had a debilitating bug & we’ve been dog sitting Jasper.
Cut the weather & dog ravaged lawn yet again. Surely that’s the last time this year? Will give it some TLC in the spring.
Also filled & put out more bird feeders as colder weather is forecast.

More November blooms.

Haven’t posted for a while as I’ve had a bug of some sort & we’ve been dog sitting Jasper.
Finally got out in the garden again today.

Have not posted for a while. Life keeps getting in the way.
Spotted this late bloomer in the garden yesterday.
Wishing you a wonderful day peeps.🍁

I had a cacti collection years ago but apart from that, I’m not really a houseplant person. My wife even boasts of the number she has killed through neglect.
Friends gave us this beaut several weeks ago when they came to dinner. Not only has it survived, it seems to be flourishing.

Delighted at how well the spreading Thyme has developed under my cherry bushes. I also planted them in the garden at home but those plants have been disturbed by my purge on the Chinese lanterns.
First walk down the site for a while. Just one plot in poor condition awaiting a new tenant.

I’ve not been to the plot for several days. It’s pretty well shut down for winter now.
Good to see my autumn garlic & onion sets are pushing on & looking healthy.
My plot is covered in leaves from the trees lining the track. Not a bad thing to add to the horse manure dressing.

Sometimes they are like this…… and sometimes they’re not.

Jasper’s come for a few days to brush up on his IT skills.

What a beautiful day. The wind has a nip but it’s so nice to have blue sky & sunshine. Popped to the plot to clear the outdoor tomato plants & plant out some sprouting garlic.
Caught up with some fellow tenants inc John, who advised that he will be bringing more horse manure to the site next week 👍

Whilst clearing the poly tunnel this morning, I couldn’t stop marvelling at the fact that each of these massive plants grow from such a tiny seed. #lovenature

Oops, in clearing the poly tunnel today I found a few more tomatoes & cues.
We gave 2 bags away at choir practice last night & 2 more will be going to friends tomorrow.

No rain forecast today so I cleared tunnel 2. Collected the ties & stakes, then pulled the plants & got them to the compost heap.
I scraped the bottom of the communal horse manure hopper for the last knockings - a barrow & a half. Will check with John if he will be getting any more this year.

And here it is: A tomato cake. Carrot cake and beetroot brownies are common. We also had courgette muffins last year, so why not tomatoes?
Will let you know once it’s cooled.

The grass here, as at home, has shot up in recent weeks. I’d hoped my previous strimming session would be the last one this year.
I’ll need drying weather before I can trim this lot. The rain was lashing down today whilst I harvested the last of the tunnel 2 crop & the forecast is not promising.
October 20, 2025 at 1:29 PM
My BH’s claim that I cannot bring her too many tomatoes is no longer mentioned. We may get one more batch of green tomato chutney from this lot. The rest will be looking for new homes.
Green peppers, Jalapeño chillies & a last cue also harvested.

Back to the plot today after a short break in the Cotswolds. I’d noticed a few fruits starting to go mouldy before we went away, so decided to clear tunnel 2 completely on our return.

The church where Lady Mary from Downton Abbey was married, coincidentally dedicated to St Mary.

Having visited Highclere (Downton Abbey) a while back, we took the opportunity, on our way back from a few days in the Cotswolds, to visit the village used for other sets in the show.

Just as we came upon Spike Milligan’s grave on our travels earlier this year, today we found what is believed to be the oldest pub in England.

Roofs. Old and even older.

Whilst showering I was reminded of your post. Also just above the ankle. Also gained on the allotment & as itchy as hell for a few days. Almost healed now.
