Looks like the gambling definition indeed came first. But it was later used in business and land acquisition.

Opening up "net zero" was a Pandora's box. Open the possibility by a slit and the lid gets blown off - just another excuse for more "whataboutery". Damaging for the climate. And for human rights & community land rights too.
