This gosling hatched earlier today. The first to be born here in a few years.
As before, there is no mother in sight. Instead the two ganders have stepped up to care for the gosling. I gather this is not the norm but it is how it always works here.

Sometimes it is the small victories that matter. I have been trying to grow Christophine (Sicyos edulis) for four years, and could never get it to sprout. This year was to be my last attempt and guess what? Success!

Lamb no. 11 arrived on Thursday evening. I think she is going to be the last of this years lambs. Another ewe tried to steal her, and is still lurking outside their pen, so they will stay isolated from the flock until she loses interest.

This little one was born earlier today. Her mother is a first time mum and utterly clueless. After 40 minutes of trying to get mum and lamb together I decided it was better for the lamb to be hand-reared. I doubt she would survive the night otherwise.

This hot water bottle bites!
0C here this morning with snow on the ground. Our ancient central heating system is dodgy and more off than on nowadays, so upstairs is COLD. The upside of that is the cats are extra cuddly. 🙃

Slightly blurry but I was caffeine deprived. This is my new pair of heritage Bronze turkeys. Still young, not used to the outdoors yet so mostly staying in their night quarters for now. Btw, turkey eggs make for great eating :-)

My most handsome turkey stag. He is a French breed (Dinde gris) and I am still searching for a few hens for him. Hopefully I will be able to source more of his breed later on this year.
