The sleeping bear. Putin fooled everyone like a Trojan horse he pretended to be friendly to western states only to rebuild the Russian state and slowly make some European countries dependent on their energy.

The problem with this, Marco, is that you are pressuring the victim of aggression to compromise its statehood instead of pressuring the aggressor to end its conquest.

I’m really surprised that there are still companies left in the Russian energy sector than can be sanctioned. After coming close to four years of a genocidal war of aggression I would have expected that all of them were sanctioned by now.

I don’t believe they will be deployed to fight en masse. I expect them to be exploited working in factories to produce military or dual use goods. Modern slavery to support putler’s war economy.

Idiotic comparison. The EU (and NATO) is not at war. Their potential resources are enormous. They have not really started using them. Self-deterrence, like this one, has so far prevailed.

It’s all show. There is no rule-based concept behind anything that Trump does. If you don’t nurture his ego and transfer cash to him you have no deal. And any deal can be revoked at any time for any reason Trump finds suitable. In this he is no different than Putin.

The question is also, are we prepared that an anchor NATO member may align with our main adversary in Europe?
What does that mean for intelligence sharing with that country? Do we have red lines when a NATO country is considered rogue? What are the implications? Action plans?
