Phantosmia is a condition that causes you to detect smells that aren't actually in your environment. It can happen in one nostril or both — and the odors may be foul or pleasant. Causes include colds, allergies, nasal polyps and dental issues. Treatment depends on the cause.

There is also a Tigon where the alternate has occurred.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social 3 universal languages. Words, mathematics and music. I'm terrible at the last two. I remember almost bursting into tears when we had to start algebra at high school. I couldn't process the basics never mind introducing imaginary numbers and brackets to the process.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social we used to watch Noels House Party and my dad would shout up the stairs "it's starting" and whatever my brother and I were doing (fighting probably) would race downstairs to watch it. Same with Coronation street.

Purple only exists in the brain. It has no wavelength of its own. It occurs because of a strong blue and red light with the absence of green. Because our eyes are only able to process light with red, green and blue in it. The brain makes up for it to fill the gap.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social as a child, only had a zx spectrum but my parents never played on it. However, technology has moved on to such an extent, all ages can be involved. My dad is 82 and is all over Facebook and watching YouTube. It's the ease of of the tech that has changed.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social I hope you have the opportunity to watch this and the documentary on bbc2 later this evening. This is my friend @stepurse.bsky.social and would make for great conversation if you picked up this topic on your show.

I have thalassophobia which is a fear of large bodies of water.

It limits my holiday choices, I have to plan any journey making sure to avoid long bridges over rivers. I cannot walk along a canal or riverbank. Seaside holiday? Not on your life.
