Super proud to have my first joint publication with my life partner! Quite amazing that the critical fish trail has come together so well with lots of fishy tales, poems, inspiring installations and paintings with 1000s of people coming through the gallery in the past week #Hull

On a positive end to a busy week in Makerere I met students and young entrepreneurs at the Unipod where ideas get translated into commercial products. One of the first students created an irrigation system - he is now supporting international interns! @uoyenvironment.bsky.social

A full day at Makerere. Following a talk to geography, archaeology and environment students there were lots of discussions on the role of history in shaping the future of human, ecosystem and environmental rights.

Exciting to be back in Uganda. When I did my PhD some 30 years ago Museveni was just coming to power, now he is running again although I’m not sure what a qualitative leap is….

Climate change is now threatening 43% of natural World Heritage sites, surpassing all other threats. Protected areas have defined boundaries that changing climates do not respect! Pleased to have made a small contribution into the new IUCN World Heritage Outlook 4.

Fly agaric is probably the most beautiful and recognisable fungus. The unseen network of mycelium wraps around the roots supplying nutrients taken from the soil. In exchange, the fungus receives sugars produced by the trees - everything wins!
