I don’t understand the use of the term “self-determination“ in this context. Definition applies to “countries determining own statehood” and “the process by which a person controls their own life” - I agree that Jews, or any religious group, have a right to the latter but not necessarily the former?

I was thinking “why are we here?” But is that the atheist view because we already have an answer to the post-death question? To be fair I feel there is no inherent answer the “why” question, which is up to each person to answer for themselves.
