She's done everything awful that Makima's done, the assault, the manipulation, the murder, the abusing Denji into relying on her physically and emotionally, only with a layer of stupidity and self-centeredness beneath all of it that makes me find her actions even less palatable

he kept himself going because he had something real to live for, to fight for, to love for. now he's in a mental headspace where the only thing keeping him going is his shallow base desires. in part 1, against makima, that was enough. in the more complex world of part 2, it's not even close.

#csm191 denji hasn't gotten better since CSM part 1. in fact he's only deteriorated. having a family was the only thing keeping his emotional state together and now that that's gone again he's totally unraveling to an even lower point than part 1, it's so miserable to see him like this

she lacks all the subtlety of makima, she's just brazenly manipulating him right in front of everyone. and its fucking working

Denji is extremely rapidly falling into the role of devil that others have assigned to him

this chapter made me think about how terrifying Power would be if she had the power to follow through on any of her threats #csm191

his wanton violence, his sexuality, his framing of events around shallow events that are barely even pleasures - look at what he cites here as being the stuff keeping him going. eating sushi for barem right before finding nayuta's severed head, and getting assaulted? he's so broken

this entire section of csm part 2 is denji's extremely rapid regression into his worst impulses, his most vulnerable state. i've been saying it for a while but it's no coincidence that he's dressed like his child self here, it's emblematic of everything he's going through

#csm191 yoru just acting in a way that's indistinguishable from any mundane abuser here. her victim disobeys for one second, she barks at him like he's a small child, demanding he correct the misbehavior, and denji immediately complies. ohhhhhh she's awful, she's so awful

something about how abuse victims may end up falling in with people that remind them of their abusers because that is at least a sensation of familiarity and they have no other outlets

My second bet here is that her gauntlets are going to crumble. The stronger the weapon, the more fragile it is. Trying to use them now after the fight has passed will strain her arm too much, it'll fail and be destroyed
