Vrak's mental state goes through the wringer when it comes to self worth and community. He aids in order to pay for his father actions and his family's former servitude to a tiamat worshiping cult.
He knows it's right to aid those who can't fight, but can these deeds free him from his sins?

Oh choice is a HUGE thing for Vrak. After being robbed of it for so long, choosing to love, despite his flaws and past choices is another step towards lightening his internal burdens. And if he can be loved in return? Wouldn't that be joy.
