You have no support for your claim that you are repeating from ignorant sources who were given a set of talking points by the Biden administration, using falsified numbers.

What proof do you have of this? I see the payroll records of literally hundreds of businesses that are not allowed by CA to check on the SSNs of workers who claim themselves EXEMPT from income tax, that have the IRS fine them for having invalid SSNs. My clients pay the payroll taxes and the fines!

clients who are citizens or are here on green cards. I have neighbors who have a string of houses with ADUs that started years ago building up their wealth. It takes a few years, but the statistics you quote are completely wrong. That you refuse to see it tells me that I am wasting my time on you.

into what I am saying. Their lives here are orders of magnitude better than where they come from--and they send money home to help their families who couldn't travel with them. Given that they don't pay taxes or healthcare costs, have WIC and other support, they are doing better than many of my

I don't find them scandalous. I say that they are smart enough to recognize opportunities to get ahead, and they take them. They aren't paying any taxes, why should they? They are buying real estate noone else wants (benighted areas), and turning them into lovely areas. You're the one reading things
June 17, 2025 at 4:46 AM
And certainly a lot more than you ever will. You know nothing about what the undocumented go through. Particularly in smaller cities and towns. Trying to belittle me will not remove your ignorance. None of the last 4 administrations even tried to find out what is actually going on. Demand better.
June 16, 2025 at 1:07 AM
They get healthcare in CA. Everyone is on CenCal. The extended family buys up several homes in benighted areas of towns throught Central CA. Having ANY car is much better than what they left at home. I see the income of more families that include undocumented than even our government does.

Your plethora is wanting in information.
June 15, 2025 at 10:21 PM
Any tax return we file is correct. There is no documentation of a legal marriage, and our client is almost always the "wife". The man living with her has no documented income. They are buying the homes as family groups from people who are seller financing. You are clueless on how the system works.
June 15, 2025 at 10:19 PM
And a family that only declares one of its income streams has a LOT more disposible income than one who can't because they are following the rules. Consider also that many undocumented are not just field hands and custodians. In CA, employers can't ask to many questions, the state punishes you.
June 15, 2025 at 4:18 AM
You can believe what you want. I see the tax returns of about 1,500 families in my California city. I talk to dozens of other return preparers in our greater area. You only see what the media lets you see, and your preconceived notions filter it and disregard those ideas that conflict.
June 15, 2025 at 4:18 AM
I know of at least a dozen situations where couples like this can buy a house that a family with 2 reported incomes can't, because of state programs. You are believing a false narrative. All the government reports are estimates with no basis in facts.

Add to that the Social Security benefit their spouse is earning, along with MedicAid they are currently receiving. No health insurance, full coverage, no copays, and all the illegal's income not being taxed. Their income is much higher than claimed, but not taxed.
June 14, 2025 at 3:43 PM
You are drawing a false conclusion. They are getting the exact benefits they are signing up for. The FICA and Medicare you pay is not counted in your effective income tax rate, to show that, add 7.65% to your effective tax rate. They are chosing to give up that for the ~$9,000 in EITC and CTC.
June 14, 2025 at 3:43 PM
The employer, nor the IRS has ANY clue that this is an undocumented worker that is being paid (wink, wink, nod, nod). The worker has ANOTHER, different ITIN/SSN that they file taxes under, and they don't claim any income (or just don't file, so their spouse claims HoH and gets EITC.)
June 14, 2025 at 7:39 AM
The undocumented in our area ALL are smart enough to use one of the SSNs or ITINs that are traded for them to use. They tell their employer that they are exempt from withholding. The ONLY taxes paid by them are FICA & Medicare. The rest of the payroll taxes are paid by the employer, not the employee
June 14, 2025 at 7:39 AM
I looked at the ITEP report that this article is based upon. The methodolgy section is extremely problematic. Their assumptions are not in keeping with what I observe as a tax practitioner in a farming community with a large undocumented population. All of their numbers seem to fabricated.

Gavin's answer was correct, but with cherry-picked data. The original post was about all violent crime & he went to homicide. If we look at all violent crimes, the FBI shows the California rate as 499.5. It shows Alabama's rate as 409.1. Consistency matters when debating. Newsom was not consistent.
June 11, 2025 at 6:27 PM
I have no idea what you said there. Are you having a strke???
May 27, 2025 at 6:56 PM
You sound exactly like a John Bircher saying that the only political scale is mob rule to dictatorship. Liberal (or progressive) is the very defintion of left wing. I have been alive for over 7 decades, and that has been and still is the meaning. There can be left-wing dictators (Mao) and right-wing
May 27, 2025 at 2:23 AM
I don't get the point of your comment. Generally speaking, for at least the last 70 years, left-leaning and liberal were synonyms, as are conservative and right-leaning. Are you making a distinction of which I am not aware? If so, how does that distinction provide clarity to discussion?
May 16, 2025 at 12:49 PM
Not just get rrid of the the right wing Billionaires, let's get rid of the influence of the left-leaning billionaires to: Gates, Soros, Bezos, the Hollywood elite, Bloomberg, Steyer, Sussman, Simons. The oligarchs must go, including all the super-delegates to the DNC!

That's why you're in the echo chamber. But what good does opening a dialogue only with those who already agree? Any conversation here is not going to heal anything in our nation. Just removing yourselves from the general discussion harms the whole. Over here, I see tacit agreement with the violence.
April 6, 2025 at 7:24 PM
Non-partisan here. Just wondering why someone would post this picture to a liberal echo chamber... It's like a MAGA-ite posting to X
