Border Collie Collective - we try to herd in the right direction | Daytime - follows global politics, economics, finance and the laws of chance. | Evening - follows sport, music, most things cultural, BC's and the laws of chance.
I went looking for the background - political party etc & couldn't find anything.

This stinks!!

So the market has failed, nationalisation could lead to privatisation under another administration.

Given there will always be a demand for water why not put it into a Trust structure with the beneficiaries the UK people, Trustees including head of state ie king, not for profit etc

The Palace fans responded to the Liverpool booing of their own National Anthem accordingly. At this time the players lined up for another period of Remembrance.

This behaviour of Liverpool fans is apparently long-standing. Outside of the top clubs very few fans would have observed before. 2/2

This story is very selective.

There was a wreath laying ceremony that was well observed by both sets of fans.

The British/English was then played/sung. This was booed by the Liverpool fans. I suspect most of the Cystal Palace fans had never come across this before & found it very offensive 1/2

In my view:

Truss a complete & utter loon.

Sunak a clever lad in wrong party.

Cameron & May 'traditional' Tories - hence like or not.

BUT Johnson admired Trump for his ability to lie & get away with it and subsequently copied his behaviour.

.. at some stage the good people of USA will collectively realise they elected a 'wrong un'.

It happened in the UK with Johnson; his political party 'The Conservatives' are now broadly finished!

The EPL have already distanced themselves from the referee. The complaint is quite sophisticated. It questions the appointment of an inexperienced referee & hence those in charge of match officials right to the top. The cost/damage could be circa £100m.

Ah, 24 Lombard Street - I still remember the ever so slow, heavy duty bullion lifts at the back of the building

The equity market is reflecting Trumps lack of credibility. Every time he attacks the Fed it undermines their credibility & bond yields rise. Ultimate act of self harm.

A great performance. The squad needs to go for top 5 & the best XI FA Cup.
April 15, 2025 at 9:26 PM
Clearly Trump is clueless & his appointments offer no redemption. Markets will now continue in this direction until the pain forces a reversal in policies. At that point it might be too late to alleviate the damage.
April 7, 2025 at 8:04 AM
The UK elected a 'wrong un' in Johnson who based his playbook on Trump 1.0. It took time but he was eventually removed. I hope the USA also has processes in place.

So would the US be better off introducing VAT given it already has an imperfect version (for some sales) the obligatory tip that ranges from 10% to over 30%?

'Rule of Law' is being pushed to its extremes. Going forward, International Investors, tourists, residents will 'vote' accordingly.
March 16, 2025 at 8:44 PM
... quite possibly. Sources of wisdom?😊
March 15, 2025 at 10:44 AM
This represents a complete failure by Trump to realise that markets move on fundamentals. There has been a breakdown in the 'Rule of Law' in the USA as well as Tesla relying on State subsidies. Markets move at the margins both the US$ & its equities are now shorts.

Americans need to check the value of their pension plans to see if this is what they voted for. I suspect there is much more pain to come before any reckoning ...
